An internationally recognized actor who speaks five languages, Édgar Ramírez was born in San Cristóbal, Venezuela, on March 25, 1977. Thanks to his father's job as a military attaché, he grew up in cities all over the world and once planned to become a diplomat -- until he made the fortuitous choice to pursue acting.
Soon after appearing on the Venezuelan telenovela "Cosita Rica" (2003-04), Ramírez was cast as a steely bounty hunter opposite Keira Knightley in the gritty biopic Domino (2005). He went on to play a hit man in The Bourne Ultimatum (2007) and appeared in director Steven Soderbergh's Ché (2008).
In 2010, Ramírez earned his first Golden Globe nomination -- and drew comparisons to a young Marlon Brando -- for his portrayal of real-life Venezuelan terrorist Carlos the Jackal in the cinematic miniseries "Carlos."
