1984  1984  3.4 stars 110 mins Sci-Fi & Fantasy   Rated: R  starting 01-Oct-2010
This movie adaptation of George Orwell's eerie, dystopian tale -- filmed during the year for which it's named -- follows the "reeducation" of two people who break the law in a totalitarian state by falling in love while Big Brother is watching. The film turned out to be Richard Burton's last, but it's also notable for its intriguing technique of shooting specific scenes from the novel on the exact dates they were specified in print.
The Jesus Film  1979  3.8 stars 120 mins Drama   Rated: G
Touted as the most historically accurate depiction of the life of Jesus, this film, shot in the Holy Land, has been translated into more than 800 languages and has been seen by more than 4.7 billion people in 236 nations. The screenplay comes directly from the Gospel of Luke -- virtually every word spoken by Jesus was drawn from the biblical text. Extensive research also went into the production's design to achieve historical authenticity.
The Sell-Out  1976  2.0 stars 88 mins Action & Adventure   Rated: PG
Retired CIA operative Sam Lucas (Richard Widmark) discovers that he's been involuntarily reactivated. He reluctantly returns to espionage at the urging of his protégé and friend Gabriel Lee (Oliver Reed), who defected to the Soviet Union but wants to return to the American side. Adding to the intrigue, neither agent knows that both superpowers have sent assassins to Israel to eliminate them.
